Pianoman: Street Jazz Piano Privacy Policy

This page explains the privacy policy for Pianoman: Street Jazz Piano, an AI pianist that starts improvising as soon as you give it chord changes. We never ask for your name or email address. All we receive is an anonymous record of how the app is used, and the likes you give to songs On the Street. The chord changes you bring in and the themes you record stay on your device and in your own iCloud. When you choose to share a song on social media or to report one, we also receive what is described in 2-1 and 2-2.

1. Information We Collect

Through Firebase Analytics (Google), we collect the following three types of data.

  • Usage data (product interaction): which screens are opened, whether a bundled song is opened or played to the end, whether the solo, the 3D grand piano or night mode is used, whether chords are brought in from iReal Pro or a theme is recorded (and how many notes), whether the tutorial is viewed, and so on. The titles and contents of the songs you bring in or record are never sent. Purpose: analytics (understanding and improving how the app is used).
  • Diagnostics (performance data): records of how the app is running. Purpose: analytics.
  • Purchase history: when you buy the in-app purchase (Pianoman Pro), its transaction ID, product ID, amount and currency. Purpose: analytics (learning which screen led to the purchase). It contains no name and no payment details such as a card number.
  • None of it is linked to your identity.
  • None of it is used for tracking. The app does not ask for tracking permission through App Tracking Transparency, and it shows no ads.

2. Likes On the Street

Songs On the Street show how many likes everyone has given them. Reading these counts sends nothing about you.

When you like a song or take a like back, the app sends it to our server. For this, the app makes a random ID with no name and a secret string, and keeps them in your iCloud Keychain (your iPhone, iPad and Mac on the same Apple ID use the same ID, so each person's like counts once).

  • What our server keeps: this ID, a hash of the secret string (never the string itself), the songs you liked, and the app's version and type of operating system.
  • What it does not keep: your name, email address, phone number, location or the device's advertising identifier.
  • The IP address of the connection is used to limit how often requests can be made, to prevent misuse; when it is logged, part of it is hidden.
  • Taking a like back removes it from the server. To have the ID itself deleted, please contact us at the address below.

2-1. Sharing on Social Media

When you choose to share a song from In My Room on social media, the app sends the following to our server to make the share link. Anyone who opens the link sees the song's title, your nickname and the number of likes, and can hear the song in Pianoman. The song also appears On the Street.

  • The song: its chart and theme in ABC notation (title, composer, style, key, tempo, chords and the notes of the theme). The link to iReal Pro is not sent.
  • The rights you declared when posting (whether the tune is your own or out of copyright), the version of the terms you agreed to and when, and the app's version and type of operating system.
  • Your MusicFlow nickname. It is used to sign in and is shown with the songs you share.
  • To have a song you shared taken down, please contact us outside the app at the address below.

2-2. Reporting and Muting

When you report a song someone else shared, the app sends the reason and, if you add one, a short note (up to 500 characters) to our server, using the ID with no name described in section 2.

  • Your list of muted people and the songs you reported are kept only in the app's folder in your iCloud Drive (on the device when iCloud is not available), and are never sent to us.

3. What Is Stored on Your Device and in iCloud

  • Chord changes you bring in: from an iReal Pro link or file, the app takes only the chord changes of your own chart. It does not take the melody.
  • Themes you record: a theme you play on a MIDI keyboard, the on-screen keys or your computer keyboard is saved as notes (position, length, pitch and strength), not as audio. The app does not use the microphone.
  • Favorites and settings: your favorites and your choice of piano tone, hall, night mode and so on.
  • Where it is kept: favorites are kept in iCloud's key-value store (an Apple service) and on the device; recorded themes and chord changes go to the app's folder in iCloud Drive. When iCloud is not available, they stay on the device only. Signed in with the same Apple ID, you can open the same songs on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. None of this is sent to us.
  • Only a song you choose to share is sent to our server, as described in 2-1.

4. Camera

The app uses the camera to show the view from the rear camera through the glass of the piano. The picture is only shown on the screen; it is never saved or sent.

The camera runs only if you allow it in the iOS permission prompt, and the camera button in the app stops it at any time. You can also revoke the permission in iOS Settings. The app does not use the microphone.

5. An Outside Site (the iReal Pro Forum)

When you open "Find on iReal", the app shows the iReal Pro forum (forums.irealpro.com) inside its own screen. What travels while it is open goes between your device and that site and never reaches us. What the site records is up to that site's own policy.

The app never reads this site by itself. Only when you tap a link and confirm does it take the chord changes contained in that link.

iReal Pro is a trademark of Technimo LLC. Pianoman is not affiliated with iReal Pro.

6. Third Parties

The third-party services the app uses are Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) and Apple's iCloud and App Store. It shows no third-party ads, does no behavioral tracking, and does not sell or share personal information.

The in-app purchase (Pianoman Pro) is processed through Apple's App Store (StoreKit) and supports Family Sharing. We never receive payment details such as a card number. Only the fact of the purchase (transaction ID, product ID, amount and currency) is sent for analytics, anonymously, as described in section 1.

7. Deleting Your Data

  • Deleting the app removes what is stored on the device. What is kept in iCloud can be removed from iCloud's storage management.
  • A like On the Street is removed from the server when you take it back. To have the ID used for likes deleted, please contact us.

8. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app never asks for a name or contact details.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy. If a new feature changes how your information is handled, we will revise this policy along with it. A revision takes effect when it is posted on this page.
